Speedup Mozilla Firefox

I love Mozilla products. I use Firefox and Thunderbird every day and i am very happy with them. But sometimes it seams that Firefox is rendering content a little bit slower than Chrome. In most cases this is not true, but sometimes Firefox is really lagging behind.

But there are settings you can tweak to improve the fetching and the rendering of the websites. One of the most important things is to enable prefetching and pipelining. Those features are really giving your old HTTP 1.1 connections some speed improvements.

To change those settings you have to open up your about:config. In there you have to change the following flags.

Firefox speed tweaks
flag value
network.dns.disablePrefetch false
network.prefetch-next true
network.http.pipelining true
network.http.pipelining.ssl true
network.http.pipelining.aggressive true
network.http.pipelining.max-optimistic-requests 6
network.http.proxy.pipelining true
